Regulatory framework
CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 harmonises classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures in Europe (GHS). It governs handling, storage and hazard communication on site.
Without reliable CLP SDS and classification at receipt, HSE and quality cannot secure the workplace or associated REACH compliance.
What the buyer must require
Evidence needs to be verifiable, dated and tied to a specific reference. A generic statement isn't enough.
- CLP-compliant SDS, dated and in the required language.
- Classification and pictograms consistent with the delivered material.
- Up-to-date packaging labelling and supplier notices.
- Notification of classification changes within deadlines.
Manage compliance over time
Suplylot links CLP questionnaires, SDS and renewal campaigns: every chemical material has a visible classification file before order or receipt.
- Block materials without a valid CLP SDS.
- Track ECHA reclassifications on the critical panel.
- Cross-check CLP and REACH for high-stakes substances.
