EUDR: traceability and material due diligence

Document the origin of every material covered by EUDR and collect supplier DDS statements to secure the upstream chain.

Framework highlights

  • Material origin attestation per supplier
  • Due Diligence Statement (DDS)
  • Geographic mapping of upstream sites

Regulatory framework

The EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation) requires due diligence on certain materials linked to deforestation: wood, soy, palm oil, coffee, cocoa, rubber and cattle. Operators must demonstrate that products do not originate from land deforested after the cut-off date.

For an upstream manufacturer, EUDR translates into evidence of geographic origin, Due Diligence Statements (DDS) and documented batch traceability for the materials concerned.

What the buyer must require

Evidence needs to be verifiable, dated and tied to a specific reference. A generic statement isn't enough.

  • Geographic coordinates or production polygons for in-scope materials.
  • DDS or due-diligence attestation from the tier-1 supplier (and further upstream if required).
  • Certificates of origin and batch traceability down to the plot or region.
  • Mitigation plan if a risk area is identified.

Manage compliance over time

Suplylot's EUDR module integrates with supply chain mapping: origin documented at each link, targeted campaigns on wood, rubber or palm oil, and portal reminders on missing DDS.

  • Identify EUDR material references in the purchasing repository.
  • Require origin data as early as supplier qualification, not at audit time.
  • Consolidate evidence for downstream regulatory declarations.
