Regulatory framework

Food traceability is both a health obligation (EC Regulation 178/2002) and an operational necessity: in the event of an alert, the company must be able to trace the supply chain in hours, not days.

Raw materials (milk, meat, additives, flavourings) and packaged finished products require CoAs, certificates and batch evidence linked to factory receipt.

What the buyer must require

Evidence needs to be verifiable, dated and tied to a specific reference. A generic statement isn't enough.

  • CoA per delivered batch, compliant with internal specifications.
  • IFS/BRC certifications or health approvals depending on category.
  • Documented one-up-one-down traceability with the supplier.
  • Allergen, GMO and origin-claim management where applicable.

Manage compliance over time

Suplylot links every received batch to its documentary file: CoA, certificates, additive SDS. Portal reminders ensure no material release happens without up-to-date evidence.

  • Block goods-receipt release if the CoA is missing or non-compliant.
  • Run annual campaigns on sensitive materials (allergens, PFAS, origin).
  • Keep an audit-ready history for health authority controls and customer audits.
